About Wendy

Hi, my name is Wendy Arnold, and I am truly honored to be a part of Agape Love Women’s Refuge. This ministry speaks directly to my heart and to the deepest parts of my story.

I have seen firsthand the struggles that so many people face — including within my own family. My father and brother both chose homelessness as their way of life, and that burden gave me a passion to serve and support others walking through similar struggles. I am also a survivor of domestic violence, and I know what it feels like to try to leave a situation that feels impossible to escape. I want to be a steady hand and a safe place for women who are trying to break free and rebuild their lives.

Growing up around addiction and alcoholism, I spent much of my own life battling addiction as well. For more than 20 years, I faced some of my hardest battles — addiction, mental illness, jail, prison, rehab, hospitals, and crisis centers. I have walked through bipolar disorder and PTSD, and I know what it feels like to fight for your life one day at a time. Those experiences ignited a calling in me to help others, which led me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Addiction and Substance Abuse Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I believed that was God’s purpose for me — and for many years, it was. Life has taken different turns, and even though I am now disabled, my calling to make a difference has never changed. I still have breath, so I still have purpose. I am determined to love others with the same grace, patience, and never-ending compassion that God has shown me time and time again.

Today, I am blessed to be married to the man God chose for me, Jon Arnold. My children are grown, but God has given me the gift of helping raise his son, and I am so grateful. I am also a very proud grandmother to many beautiful grandchildren — they keep me young at heart, even on the days they remind me how quickly time flies.

Jon and I have been blessed in finding and calling New Harmony Baptist Church our home church where we faithfully attend.

My life hasn’t been easy, but God has been faithful. And I am here at Agape to stand with women who are fighting the battles I once fought — to remind them they are seen, valued, and never beyond God’s reach.

Her favorite scripture is Isaiah 40:31: “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength…”

I am humbled to serve, to love, and to help bring hope to the hurting — because if God can bring me through every valley, I know He can do the same for them.
