“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” - Psalm 46:1

About Cate
Cate Mattingly is honored to serve as Vice President of Agape Love Women’s Refuge and brings both professional experience and deep personal understanding to the mission. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work, and has devoted over 20 years of her calling to serving individuals and families impacted by mental health challenges, domestic violence, and sexual assault.
Cate’s passion for advocacy and healing is rooted not only in her education and career, but also in her own testimony. After struggling with alcoholism for more than 20 years, Cate has now been sober and faithfully walking in recovery for over seven years. Her life stands as a testament to God’s restoring grace and the power of transformation, compassion, and perseverance.
Guided by faith and a commitment to Christ-centered service, Cate approaches her work with humility, integrity, and a deep respect for the dignity and worth of every person. She believes healing happens when people are truly seen, loved, and supported — values that align beautifully with the heart of Agape.
Cate worships at Matthew’s Table and is actively involved in a small church group, where she finds encouragement, accountability, and spiritual growth. She is joyfully married to her loving husband, Ralph, and together they share life with their beloved “child pup,” Roscoe. Cate is also the bonus mother to five children and a grandmother to thirteen grandchildren, whom she treasures deeply.
Her favorite scripture is Luke 7:44, which reflects her heart for compassion, humility, and radical love: “Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, ‘Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.’”
Cate’s wisdom and servant leadership help strengthen Agape’s foundation as the ministry continues to grow and serve women on their journey toward healing and hope.
