Victim Advocate

About Kathy

Kathy Thomas serves as a Victim Advocate and Prayer Coordinator for Agape Love Women’s Refuge. Through both her personal testimony and professional experience, God has uniquely equipped Kathy to walk alongside women in crisis with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering hope. She believes deeply in the power of prayer and in the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, trusting that God faithfully meets us when we call upon Him in spirit and in truth.

After experiencing profound personal loss and hardship, Kathy found healing, strength, and purpose through her relationship with Jesus Christ. As a survivor of domestic violence and the daughter of a mother whose life was tragically lost to domestic violence, she understands the pain, fear, and uncertainty many women face. Those experiences have given her a deep compassion for women who need to know they are not alone and that there is a safe place where they can find refuge, encouragement, and the love of Christ.

Professionally, Kathy serves as a Victim Advocate with the Ohio County Attorney’s Office, where she walks alongside victims of crime, helping them navigate the court system, ensuring their voices are heard, and offering hope and support throughout the judicial process. She also serves as the Administrative Assistant at Living Faith Baptist Church, where she continues to minister to others through faithful service.

Kathy has been married to her husband, Jack, for 29 years. Together they have raised a blended family of five children and are blessed with eight beautiful grandchildren.

Through her work in the community, Kathy sees firsthand the need for a Christ-centered refuge where women can find safety, healing, and restoration. She is honored to serve on the Board of Directors of Agape Love Women’s Refuge and is grateful to be part of what God is doing to bring hope and healing to the women of Ohio County.

Kathy’s favorite Scripture is 2 Corinthians 1:3–4:

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”

Kathy considers it a privilege to live out this calling by offering the same comfort, compassion, and hope that Christ has so generously given to her.
