AGAPE LOVE WOMEN'S REFUGE
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” - Psalm 46:1
Cherie Griffin
About Cherie
Cherie Griffin has been an advocate for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault through her career of almost 40 years. Through a trauma-informed lens, Cherie has worked with those that are creating a new life free of violence. In Cherie’s work, she advocates for victims, is a fierce advocate for people experiencing homelessness as well as those who misused substances because of the trauma in their story.
Cherie joined the board of Agape Love because she knew the immense needs of the Ohio County community of women to have safe shelter to flee to so they can loosen the binds of addiction, homelessness and violence. In that safe space, Cherie knows that Jesus enters and can share His vision of restoration for each woman. He can bring them to fullness of life, first with the miracles of healing of life’s circumstances and then with the miracles that He wishes for all of us - life in Him with full and complete healing of our whole heart and soul and being. Cherie rejoices that Jesus’ mercy has entered Ohio County and made way for HIS refuge here.
She is an active member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. She is a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the “Women of the Well.” She was raised in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and practices the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Cherie is a member of the Association of Christian Therapists, practicing healing prayer, inner healing prayer and Christ-centered healing services, such as the Healing Through Agape Love Trauma Survivor’s Support Group.
Cherie and her husband, Bob, live on God’s land in Olaton where they “homestead” with chickens and goats and gardens and four-wheeler trails. Cherie’s second passion in this world is Creation and the creative love of God, and it is on their homestead that God continues to reveal the immense love and joy that He has in all living things. Cherie’s hobbies are varied, and she stays very active with many “old-timey” hobbies, with a special love for canning, gardening, embroidery, quilting and learning self-sufficient skills. Cherie has two grown sons who live in Kentucky, as well and a stepdaughter who resides in Chicago.
